What is FamFest?
FamFest is GE Designs’ annual in-person celebration, where our incredible quilting community gathers in Chaska, Minnesota for a weekend of inspiration, fun, and fabric!
The heart of FamFest is our Saturday Tent Sale at GE Designs Headquarters, featuring massive deals on fabric, music, food, demos, and more. The whole weekend is packed with optional add-on experiences like quilting classes, behind-the-scenes tours, and the Friday night Gala.
Whether you join for one event or the full slate, FamFest is your chance to connect with Gudrun, Mr. HP, the GE Designs Team, and quilters from all over in a high-energy, joyful setting. It’s a weekend to remember, and we can’t wait to see you there!

FamFest FAQs
Do I need to attend all the events?
Not at all! Each event is ticketed separately, so you can pick and choose what fits your interest and schedule.
Is the Tent Sale free to attend?
Yes! The Tent Sale on Saturday from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM is open to everyone and does not require a ticket. Come shop, enjoy the demos and entertainment, and hang out with the GE Designs crew!
Is FamFest in person?
Yes! All events are held in person in Chaska, Minnesota at or near GE Designs Headquarters.
Will I need to bring my sewing machine?
Only for the hands-on quilting classes. We’ll send out more information on what to bring closer to the event.
Do events sell out?
Yes—most of the classes, tours, and the Gala have limited capacity and tend to sell out quickly. We recommend registering early!
Is food available during FamFest?
Yes! Some events like the Gala include a meal, and food trucks will be available during the Saturday Tent Sale. See individual event pages for details.
Can I bring a friend or family member who doesn’t quilt?
Absolutely! The Tent Sale, Paisley Park Tour, and Gala are perfect for anyone who wants to join the fun, even if they don’t sew.
Is transportation provided to the Paisley Park Tour?
No—guests are responsible for their own transportation to Paisley Park (just 10 minutes from GE Designs HQ).
